Harsh elements, warm scales

I have permission from @mylou-doodlesworld, the creator of the au: Hantengu Clones Dragon au, to use Dragon Zohakuten for this chapter. This is where my idea came from. And I made a design for him when he is in full dragon form. Enjoy!

The night was dark, miserable and cold. A young girl, around five years of age, sat in a ditch where her parents abandoned her. She sobbed uncontrollably, shivering from the cold as temperatures dropped drastically.

Her shivering was a reaction from her body, a natural attempt to keep her small petite form warm. It didn't feel like it at all. It felt like her body got colder and colder, no matter how much she shivered.

She thought she could hear large footsteps, feel the ground quake beneath her as the frequency of each giant step made an earthquake. Except, they were very much real. But being cold and on the brink of passing out, she thought of it as just her mind playing tricks on her.

Her eyes felt tired because of all the crying she has done. She could just sleep here, right? She wouldn't die in a place like this... right?

Her small mind didn't comprehend the sudden warm gust of wind that blew on her small form or the yellow orbs that scanned her, observing her. Her mind registered it too late when something MASSIVE grabbed the back of her shirt, lifting her off of the ground. All she could see, despite being tired, were claws the size of her. Black and purple scales on two paws that came into view.

She saw the paws below her move, causing the creature that held her to walk forward. She saw it crouch from the way it was positioning itself and leaped out of the ditch, wings flapping was heard- wait! Wings?! She was a bit terrified at the prospect of what the creature was, but didn't want to be right. She didn't want to be right. She really didn't.

This made her fear for her life, but she was so tired... Her body just wanted to rest. Maybe she can... forever if the creature decided to turn her into a snack. A delicious, thin and petite girl it could have as a snack.

Her eyes dropped, slowly closing as the cold finally got to her. The way she swayed as the creature carried her also didn't help with her exhaustion. Hopefully she could sleep through the painful proses if the dragon either crushed or digested her.

Her hearing tuned out as she finally gave in to the dark, allowing her body to be more vulnerable to the creature than before. She was now completely unaware of what was happening around her- what was happening TO her!

Hopefully- HOPEFULLY it would be a painless death...

Her eyes slowly fluttered open, darkness surrounded her small form. Something warm but tough was next to her, the colour a dark purple with some black. And hints of orange. Her vision was blurred, making it hard for her to see what the warm and tough object was.

However, it didn't take long for her eyes to adjust and she froze upon realizing what it was. Or rather, what THEY were. They were scales, each one the size of her hand and some the size of her head. She was placed against the side of the creature, now knowing that her suspicions of it being a dragon were correct after all... But she didn't know what type of dragon.

She didn't dare move, too scared that any sudden movement would trigger its predatory side. Its instinct to eat her like she was just another meal made for it.

She felt the fear crawl up her spine, closing her eyes as images of her being killed in gruesome ways thought impossible plagued her brain. She was absolutely terrified, scared of doing something that would awaken the beast and cause it to harm her.

Warm gust of air blew past her petite form.

Her eyes snapped open, and she fearfully slowly looked up to face the beast. Yellow eyes stared at her, scleras red. The dragon looked more humanoid now, except that it had scales scattered across its body and had larger elf-ish ears.

She could make out the outline of its face, finally seeing the way its more humanoid face gave away the gender of the dragon. The reason being that the dragon had a masculine built in its human-ish form. So... the dragon was a male?

She shook her head and screamed as he, the dragon, brought his head closer to her form. She shut her eyes tightly, using an arm to protect her face, fresh tears forming in her eyes as she waited for the pain to come. For sharp teeth to tear her apart.

But nothing came. Only the sound of sniffing and something wet soaking her clothes. Wait... wet? She opened her eyes and turned her head to look back at the dragon. A dark purple-pink tongue lapped at her, the tongue itself forked like a certain lizard's.

The muscle licked her repeatedly, covering her in thick saliva. The dragon stopped licking after she was covered in dragon drool.

The dragon stared at her, tilting his head and lowered his ears. He made a low rumble, ears perked back up as he watched her. She tilted her head, confusion replacing the fear that locked her in place.

She frowned. How could she communicate with the dragon? There was no paper to write on or anything. She lifted her arms, waving it to get most of the saliva off. She was mute, and relied on paper mostly to write on. Was it possible that her parents abandoned her just because she was unable to speak?

The dragon blew another gust of air at her, making another sound at her. She didn't know what to do other than lean against the dragon again. Her body tensed when the dragon growled.

She expected the beast to have a negative reaction, but the dragon didn't do anything else. Instead, it laid its head down on its forelimbs and closed its eyes, wings folded against his sides and tail curled around her. She saw the wing above her open slightly and cover her, hiding her from the world.

She curled up against his side, eyelids heavy from the warmth that radiated from his scales and the adrenaline rush- that she now noticed- gone. She closed her eyes, falling asleep next to the dragon.

There was a storm outside of the cave. Suki, the young human, didn't go outside as it rained while Zohakuten- who she found out was his name after writing in dirt- played in the rain. She just sat in the corner of the cave, far away from the entrance. Well, as far away from the entrance as she could stay.

When there is a storm, there is a cold breeze. She shivered and curled up tighter, keeping it to herself that she was cold. Not like she could tell Zohakuten anyways. Her vocal chords were damaged when she was born, thus meaning she couldn't make sounds other than wheezing or taking deep breaths.

Her eyes screwed shut before loud footsteps approached her spot, causing her to open an eye and look at Zohakuten, who was now wet and dripping. He made a low warble, bringing his wet face close to her dry form.

She placed a shaky hand on his nose and smiled, as if telling him that she was okay when he knew that she was cold. He snorted and opened his mouth unexpectedly, causing her to fall inside and on his tongue.

She felt his sharp teeth gently add pressure on her body that stuck out of his mouth. He lifted his head, quickly opened it and tossed her inside completely. Sealing her completely in his jaws.

She didn't have time to process everything before the fleshy cavern tilted, causing her to slide towards the esophagus. She felt betrayal, but it was quickly replaced when she heard and felt Zohakuten purr. It was either he tried to calm her down, or to let her know that he didn't want to hurt her.

She slipped down his throat, being swallowed once and then twice until she began her journey down his esophagus. She heard his heart beat right next to her, his lungs getting the oxygen inside and expelling the carbon dioxide from his body.

A ring of muscle opened, allowing her to enter the organ she had long since forgotten to fear. Slowly, she slipped inside and scanned her surroundings. She heard Zohakuten make a whine, and she cautiously touch the wall of flesh.

That small action seemed to have calmed down her friend- BROTHER. Yes. Brother suited him more than the title friend. She curled up in the empty cavern of saliva and slowly fell asleep.

He carefully walked out of the cave and into the rain, laying down on his side. His belly was slightly rounder now that his little human was in there, safe and warm. His ears lowered, his eyes closing as he relaxed, rain pouting down onto his body. It was relaxing for him.

He yawned, stretching nicely before hearing a satisfied pop. He stretched good. A low rumble came from his throat, enjoying the rain pouring onto his face and his little human safely tucked away.

He wouldn't know what to do without his little human and wouldn't know what it would be like to be without her. But those were thoughts he pushed away to the back of his mind.

He was going to take a nap and keep his little human safe and warm, hide her away from the cruel world somewhere where no one would even think to look for her.

Appearance:

Dragon species name:

It is commonly known as: The Burning Flame.

But its actual species names are: The Toxic Scaleless Firewing, The Scaleless Venomwing or The Scaleless Firewing.

People call them these three names.

You will understand why later on.

Closely related to:

It is closely related to the Scaleless Sharpfin, which is also known as the Scaleless Fastfin.

It is believed that they are distant cousins.

What they can't do:

They can't fly as fast as their distant cousin.

They can't maneuver as well as their distant cousin in the air.

They can't adapt in new and foreign territories from other dragons.

They can't change colour.

They can't camouflage like their distant cousin.

They can't eat fish, as it makes them gag.

They are not agile.

What they can do:

They can swim well.

Can detect infrared heat from objects like a few snake species.

They can only eat human flesh.

They can hunt excellently.

They can breathe fire and ignite themselves on fire.

They can also coat their body in venom with the help of venom glands under their skin.

They can ignite themselves on fire and use the venom to create a toxic and deadly fire that can kill humans and dragons alike.

But it is VERY rare for them to do so!

They can lay up to two eggs.

The warm colours of their scaleless wings and tailfins produce heat.

Many say that it is like you were burning alive when you got near them.

They can fly 23km/h.

Unlike their distant cousin, they can track you from 4568 yards away.

Some differences:

They are the larger species between the two.

They can only eat human flesh.

They typically don't have horns.

They don't have retractable claws on their hands.

They make up for it by having retractable teeth.

Unlike their distant cousin, they have spines on their neck only.

Their wings are larger and more broad than their distant cousin.

They have larger ears made to hear the tiniest of movements.

Their sclera is a magenta colour.

Their irises are a deep green colour.

Tailfins are smaller and more jagged and sharp.

Highly venomous than their distant cousin.

It is believed that they have a protective instinct that activates when their distant cousin is in danger.

They don't sit on the eggs in order to incubate it.

Because the eggshell can easily break under any pressure.

It is also believed that they can sense their smaller distant cousin in danger.

Life expectancy:

There is not much information about these dragons.

But there was a specimen that was caught and was 1103 years old eight years ago.

It escaped and was spotted near the warmer areas a few times.

It is believed that they can roughly live between 1000 and 4000 years.

Dependency:

They are a solitary dragon species.

But when it comes to hunting, then they hunt in a group of 12.

Like pack animals.

It has been recorded that when their distant cousin is threatened or in dangered, they depend on the other group members to get rid of the threat.

Rarity and locations:

They can be found near warm forests or beaches.

There isn't really a correct estimation of how many there are.

But it is estimated that there are only 13 left in the whole world and Japan.

They mate for life.

These dragons are nearly extinct.

They have large muscular bodies built for combat.

Unlike their distant cousin, they have sharp talons which they use to dig.

They dig tunnels 30ft below the surface.

Extremely aggressive and will engage in combat when provoked or feel threatened.

Their eggs do have stripes, but they are not as colourful as their distant cousins' eggs.

They are intelligent enough to distinguish between powerful and weak dragons by using their sensitive detecting pits located on their nose.

This is the only known dragon species to have a crop like a bird.

Curious people found out that the crops of these dragon are just like a bird after finding a recently diseased male.

Can see infrared heat from objects with the help of heat pits under their eyes and jaws.

Eggs:

Unlike their distant cousin, they lay two eggs every two decades.

The eggs are very hard to find, as they are laid underground and out of danger.

Egg colour stripes and meaning:

Unlike the beautiful egg of their distant cousin, theirs are a bit plain with stripes.

The base colour of the egg is a dark maroon colour.

There are no other base colours for their eggs.

There are only two colours of the stripes on the eggs.

The stripes are yellow and orange.

The colours don't really have a meaning like the Scaleless Sharpfin/ Scaleless Fastfin's eggs.

If the yellow stripes are between the orange stripes, then it is a male.

The other way around is going to be a female dragon.

How to tell the infertile and fertile eggs apart:

It is really difficult to tell the fertile and infertile eggs apart.

But fertile eggs will give off a sweet smell.

Infertile eggs will give off the smell of that of a rotting corpse.

Males and females:

Unlike their cousins where you can tell the males and females apart by looking at their eye shapes and colours, females of this species are EXACTLY identical to the males.

Think of it as like the Mountain Goat, or known as the Rocky Mountain Goat.

But without knowing how to tell them apart.

Females and males are the same size, which makes it even more difficult to tell them apart.

What most people get wrong:

Most people think that if the dragon of this species is sitting and resting mistake them for a female.

Both males and females do this.

People mistake them for another dragon species that has been thought to be extinct.

Trust:

Their trust levels are zero towards humans.

However, when it comes to their distant cousin, they have a lot of trust.

Mating ritual:

No one has come out alive to tell how these highly aggressive dragons mate during mating season.

Except for one man named Yu Hinguru.

He said that this particular species don't do a dance or anything.

Yu explained how these dragons mate.

He explained that the males have to fight the females in order to successfully.

It is to prove that the male is capable of being a possible partner for the female.

If the male won, he would bite the female's neck and tear off a piece of flesh before licking the wound.

If the female won, she would kill the male and eat his body.

Just like a female spider eating her partner after mating.

Nesting:

Before nesting and laying eggs, the parents will eat a lot more than normal to built up fat.

They do this because they won't eat for 235 days.

After building the nest and laying the two eggs, then all hell breaks loose.

Both male and female will be even more aggressive than normal.

The females use their body temperatures to incubate the eggs.

The males will guard the entrance.

If the female didn't build up enough fat to last her 235 days, then the male will go hunt for her until she builds up enough fat to last during that time.

Their behaviour can be compared to Wild Dogs from Africa.

How they are during nesting season:

There are only three words to describe how they are during nesting season.

They are 10x more potective, aggressive and territorial than normal.

Personality and behaviour:

Aggressive.

These dragons know exactly how to show their behaviour and personality.

By showing aggression and killing anything that enters their territory.

Except their distant cousin.

I know Chuuya is less more obvious obsessed with Dazai but can you gives us more examples of him ? I know I'm pain in the ass , but I love reading soukoku evidence or any posts about them ( literally ANYTHING related to them ).

He, in the middle of corruption, when he has no control over himself, cannot differentiate friend from foe, more or less just floats in the back of his own consciousness, yelled Dazai's name, found him and punched him in the face gently enough to not behead him after he had just ko-d an ability dragon. That is not including the fact that he knew Dazai wasn't dead cause he could feel it in his bones or something and jumped out of a plane to near certain death just to save him.

In the ova with Kunikida, Chuuya randomly followed him around because he suspected Dazai could be the one involved.

In his meeting with Yosano and Kenji he automatically assumed Dazai blabbed about him to the ADA. (Understandable tbh cause he did talk to Oda about him).

In the dhc parts of dead apple novel he specifically fixated on saving Dazai despite previously talking about how he didnt give a shit about Dazai and only needed to save the grunts. "Wait for me, shitty dazai". What about the grunts Chuuya?

Man described Dazai's ideal date when asked about what he considered a good date idea just so he could insist he wont do that.

In the same interview Chuuya randomly brought up Dazai again saying he would like to spend his evening drinking when Dazai is not around.

Bro popped into the basement just to see Dazai and annoy him the moment he found out Dazai had been captured after 4 years of seperation and the first thing out of his mouth is comparing him to a billion dollar masterpiece and to drag him super close to his face by the hair and bring up their (ex) partnership.

They both live rent free in each other's heads in wan.

Bro has Dazai in his list of dislikes but freaks out anytime he is actually hurt. Not the guy who tried to murder him, not his bro who offed all his friends, not the other dude that offed all his friends, not his own torturer. The guy he will trust with life and humanity. Yea.

Has mentioned that they are fated in the high school au games. Used corruption when Dazai died in beast au.

Still knows Dazai like the back of his hand and can predict his motives and moves. If Dazai has a PhD in Chuuyology than Chuuya is working on his post doc in Dazaistic.

In your Murase Lives AU (given what you’ve posted lately about him and N), even if he was probably bedridden during the rest of SB, how do you think Murase reacted to his brother, who he contacted to try getting help against Verlaine, actively hurting Chuuya and making the situation go from bad to apocalyptic in the end?

I've talked a little about it forever ago, but I think Murase should have had enough information to know something was up with N, and maybe even with Chuuya. He could have been missing one piece of evidence, refused to think it through, or tried to reason it was a thing of the past (much like he was doing himself).

The logic comes from two facts: N was the one to give Murase a job near the original Arahabaki lab, and N and Murase were still talking during the events of SB.

Chuuya deduced that Murase's brother must have been a scientist working on project Arahabaki from knowing this brother was the one to get Murase a job as a security guard for a high-security research lab near what would become Suribachi city, and this brother having been dead on paper for 14 years. From Murase's point of view, his researcher brother found him a job where he worked, and one day, that place blew up in a monumental way. N survived, the war ended, and he started working at a different lab. It might have been at that point that N's life was erased, if it wasn't already the case.

When Verlaine showed up, Murase called N and said that things were happening "exactly as N had said". N had warned Murase of a(nother) gravity manipulator appearing soon, but didn't tell him who he was to Chuuya. The fact that Murase said it was "another one!" about Verlaine's ability does mean he knew about Chuuya's powers, just not the how and why since he asked who Verlaine was to Chuuya.

The probable situation is that the brothers kept in touch, and Murase, who started keeping an eye on the overpowered member of the Sheep gang (for fear of him ending up in the wrong place), talked about him to N. N then kept his mouth shut about the boy, while at some point mentioning Verlaine's existence. Verlaine did know about the brothers since he made the effort to wiretap Murase's phone to find N, so it's reasonable that N knew about Verlaine's intentions in turn.

Maybe Murase could have connected the dots between Chuuya's ability, the Suribachi incident, the fact this boy was living in that same place, and the fact his brother's work was so secret it required him to kill a child to "protect" it. Maybe he had an inkling. Or maybe he never questioned it! That's up for debate.

That got away from me, but to actually answer your question: I think that would be a difficult grieving process. I think he'd go through denial and bargaining phases. I think he'd try to reconcile his own crimes made while trying to survive with what N is doing, but be met with N's utter lack of remorse and doing the same things again without the apocalyptic context of a war.

That's also how we end up with my ADA!Chuuya AU, because after all that, I'm sure he'd double down on dragging Chuuya out of the mafia to get a better life in the light. He'd be carrying double the guilt. I chose to make Chuuya accept it after the DHC, but there's a version out there where Murase never managed to drag him out but is still around, or one where he played his cards right to force Chuuya out of there by any (mostly legal) means necessary.

In this AU, Dazai is the strongest of Yokohama's Gym Leaders. He specializes in Ghost types! His team consists of a Dragapult, a houndstone, a spiritomb, a froslass, a mimikyu, and a lampent! here's so fun(debatable) facts about his team!

he used to be an admin for the Port Mafia, so he still has like. a big fat kill count. So that's where the Spiritomb comes from. yeah.

Dragapult is usually the one dragging dazai out of his attempts. It's been with him since even before Dazai joined the mafia, so it's his signature pokemon

His mimikyu likes playing with children. Dazai often leaves it with Kyouka and Kenji to play with whenever the gym leaders get together

Dazai found Lampent when he visited Lupin after Oda's death. It was hanging around the alleyway, and he decided to catch it.

froslass is always freezing him. yk like james in the pokemon anime with all of his pokemon. bc he's pathetic like that. Dazai caught froslass on a mission with Kunikida, shortly after becoming a Gym Leader. (yes this froslass is the nightmare of all of his challengers).

Chuuya tried so hard to convince Dazai to catch a Greavard. Dazai eventually relented, but only because he could name it chibi. eventually he got actually attached to it and evolved it to Houndstone

His team consists of flying types. This is because, as his brother Verlaine is French from Kalos, got Chuuya super into sky battles. he prefers sky battles, but he's obviously just as formidable in normal battles. In Chuuya's team he has a corviknight, a skarmory, a honchkrow, a mismagius, a talonflame, and an oricorio (sensu style)

Honchkrow is his signature pokemon! it's been with him since he was in the Sheep

the oricorio, believe it or not, is actually from Kouyou and not Dazai, despite the ghost typing. its usually the pokemon to drag chuuya away when he's overworking himself.

the talonflame was gift from Verlaine! yk. as an apology. for killing the flags. Chuuya raised it from an egg. Verlaine battles with it every once in a while to see how it's doing. the battle's just an excuse to spend time with his little brother though

Corviknight was a gift from Adam as well.

Mismagius used to be Dazai's, but he left Chuuya its pokeball when he left the mafia so its his now :P

Chuuya had to add skarmory to his team during the DHC but ended up bonding with it and now its a staple in his team

Back when they were in the mafia, soukoku were often paired up for double battles on missions.

Secondly! I will do my best to help!

I wholeheartedly believe that Chuuya is going to be a-ok. (Physically anyways. I'm unsure about emotionally but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it I guess.) And I do think he'll probably have to activate Corruption (Dazai's "it's unfortunate it had to come to this" is probably due to a mix of Chuuya being in very real danger without a cohesive backup plan and forcing his hand when ordinarily he gives him a choice). I'm unsure if Corruption would necessarily break the vampire infection though. The "reset" pertains to the command logs set by the researchers; I don't think it would necessarily reset ability effects. I could absolutely be wrong but either way, it doesn't exactly matter. The release of Arahabaki overpowers Chuuya's conscious will and it needs to be nullified by Dazai anyways, so regardless of whether Corruption actually disables the infection, it will have to go away when No Longer Human becomes active.

It will probably be a survival instinct activation, as you've said. Rimbaud's attempt at killing Chuuya and taking the raw power did not go so well, and there was also Atsushi's desperate transformation into the tiger when Shibusawa tried to kill him as a child in a last ditch effort to save his own life. And it can be activated without the command phrase "Oh grantors of dark disgrace..." (at least, in that one scene from DHC in Dead Apple). However... much as Chuuya definitely knows how to swim... the room is filling with heavy water, which may be denser and thus easier to float in, but also they will soon be unable to breathe. So. Yeah.

I'll tell you what does concern me most though. Chuuya has to activate Corruption to save himself, that seems pretty clear.

However, Chuuya already looks exhausted.

Like. He's sweating. Panting even, a little, and his brow is furrowed. He's not doing anything that should have him this exhausted, especially since he never looks all that tired after a fight unless he's been severely injured... which to me implies he's trying to fight the vampire infection - has been fighting it this whole time, probably. If that's true, then Chuuya is already under a lot of mental and physical strain. Going into Corruption in that state, when normally he goes into it with close to full alertness and energy... he really might not last as long as usual in that state. I suspect Dazai will have a very narrow window of time to nullify the ability. (Again, I don't think he'll die but still.) With Dazai also on a time limit due to the poison... idk something there I'm too tired, sorry.

As for Rashoumon: I'm with you, op, it seems a little more alive to me than many other abilities (barring perhaps Byakko). I don't quite remember when it acted independently of Akutagawa in DA outside of when it was separate from him... if you could remind me I'd greatly appreciate it! I absolutely believe Rashoumon to be a deeply protective ability, for many of the reasons you've mentioned. It also is a good reflection of Akutagawa's own soul I believe: versatile, aggressive, protective, direct, always hungry (for necessities? for recognition? either works).

However, I believe it wouldn't be able to help Akutagawa in this case since the threat is internal, not external. We have no reason at this point to assume that the infection isn't an ability (in fact, I think it has to be given the lore that Bram gave us in his last appearance). In the end, I'm still hoping that Akutagawa manages to fight off the vampire infection through sheer force of stubborn will and spite. (I have an earlier post where I suspect his promise to Atsushi might help snap him out of it; it's here if you're curious.)

DHC ClubSamstag

Was für ein schöner ClubSamstag! Am 15. April richtete die Löwenbande diesen besonderen Samstagvormittag für Vereinsmitglieder und ihre Familien aus und viele waren gekommen. Getränke, Salate, Kaffee, Kuchen und andere Leckereien standen bereit und auf die kleinen und großen HockeyspielerInnen wartete ein abwechslungsreicher Parcours, der auch fleißig genutzt wurde. Vom Hockeykegeln bis Hockeyboule war alles dabei - für Neueinsteiger, Nachwuchsspieler und Profis eine unterhaltsame Herausforderung.

Nach der ersten Stunde, dann das große Finale des ClubSamstags mit dem Spiel (verstärktes) Kinderteam gegen die Erwachsene. Und der Nachwuchs zeigte, was er vor dem Spiel geübt hat - mit einem 4:1 wurden "die Großen" vom Platz gefegt :-)

Dragon species:

They have three nicknames.

They are called Chameleon dragons by some elders.

Some call them Rainbow Beauty.

Some call them Season dragons.

Their actual species name is: The Scaleless Sharpfin Dragon or The Scaleless Fastfin Dragon.

Both names work, as different cultures call them by one of the two actual species names.

What they can't do:

Can't run on land well.

Can't hunt well, but will do so if needed.

What they can do:

Can eat both fish- and human flesh.

Colourful and bright scaleless skin is used to camouflage like a chameleon.

They can change colour.

Can adapt quickly in new and foreign territories from other dragons.

Can only lay ONE egg every 7 years.

Can fire a white-blue flame out of their mouth.

Smooth wings and tailfins help with maneuvering in the air, and are the main parts that help them fly faster than any dragon.

They can fly 234km/h

They can track you from 4000 yards away.

Dependency:

They are very dependant.

They are dependant until the age of 21 years.

Life expectancy:

It is not fully known.

But people think that they can live for 200-800 years.

Rarity, information and locations:

They are found in snowy and colder regions.

Hard to find and capture.

EXTREMELY rare!

Critically endangered.

Only 43 left in all of Japan and the world.

Super skittish and cautious.

Slim and small body is built for flying in the air.

Eggs will RARELY have stripes.

They mate for life.

Eggs:

Only lays one egg every seven years.

The bigger the spots on the eggshell, the better the chance of hatching.

The smaller the spots on the eggshell, the lower the chances of hatching.

Each colourful spot has a massive impact on whether or not the egg hatches!

Colourfull stripes on the egg have the same meaning as the spots.

Unlike most dragon eggs, the egg can't survive or hatch without one of the parents sitting on it.

Like a bird.

Is built to absorb heat from the scaleless skin of the parents.

Egg colour spots and their meaning:

Yellow spots- if only a few or more- impacts on how small or big the hatchling would be once it hatches.

Zero to five yellow spots mean that the hatchling will die a few minutes after hatching.

One yellow spot on the egg means that the hatchling will be born weak.

Six to thirty spots mean that the hatchling would be as big as your palm, if not smaller.

Thirty-one to a hundred spots mean the hatchling would be as big as your arm, no matter the size of the egg.

The green spots only have two meanings.

One or more green spots mean that the egg is fertile.

No spots mean that the egg is infertile.

Purple spots only indicate if the egg is incubating correctly.

Whether or not it is one or more spots, it will be considered as the egg incubating correctly.

No purple spots mean that the egg is not incubating correctly.

Pink spots mean that it will be a male.

Blue spots take the place of the pink spots and mean that the hatchling will be a female.

It can be confusing, as pink is an indicator for female while blue is an indicator for male.

If both pink and blue spots are present or not present on the egg, then there is a high chance that it will be a hatchling with both male and female organs.

Meaning that it is capable of reproducing eggs on its own.

Only a 0.0001% chance for one to have and not have pink or blue spots.

Orange spots impact the hatchling the most.

The more orange spots on the egg, the higher the chance the hatchling will be just as bright as its typical colourful species!

The less orange spots on the egg, the duller the colour on the hatchling.

No orange spots on the egg means that the hatchling will be pure white with only patches of colour.

If the egg were to bare no colourful spots, then the hatchling will have larger wings; tailfins and horns.

If the base colour of the egg is black, the hatchling will be a daytime dragon.

If the base colour of the egg is white, the hatchling will be nocturnal.

Just like the pink and blue spots, it is also very confusing as white indicates light while black indicates darkness.

If a mix of the base colour of the egg is black and white, then it is both a nocturnal- and daytime dragon.

Very rare if it has a blue base colour.

Means it will have a harder time developing.

How to tell an infertile and fertile egg apart:

An infertile egg is smaller and take on a more sluggish green colour with black spots instead of the normally colourful appearance.

A fertile egg is as big as five adult human fists.

Males and females:

The only way to tell males and females of this species apart physically is to look at the shape of their eyes.

Females:

Females have larger eyes with markings below the eyebrows and above the lashes.

Sclera is a bright green with yellow irises.

The female of this species are smaller than the male by 0.1 centimeters and are more agile.

Males:

Males have smaller eyes with no markings below the eyebrows and above the lashes.

Sclera is a dark green with turquoise irises.

What most people get wrong:

Females are identical to males of this species.

Females are mistaken as juvenile or adolescent males.

Trust:

It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to earn their trust.

Not to mention to train/tame them.

Mating ritual:

Believe it or not, but it is actually the FEMALE'S job to try to impress the males.

Females do trust falls and trust dives.

Trust dives is when both genders hold each other with their hind legs and dive towards the ground.

Trust falls are like what humans do, but from a cliff.

The male falls off the cliff and trust the females while the females have catch the males to prove their trust and loyalty to the males.

In a sense, males also do a bit of trying to impress females.

Will be a different story with an asexual Scaleless Sharpfin.

If the trust fall and trust dive doesn't involve trust, they will work on their trust and try again and again until they fully trust each other.

In a sense, it could be considered as mates for life.

Nesting:

Nests are in the tree tops.

They hollow out a single hole in a tree large and thick enough to fit both the parents and the egg inside.

Just like a Woodpecker but with their talons instead of a beak.

How they are during nesting season:

Males are known to do most of the guarding of the egg and nest.

Both parents take turns in guarding the nest with the egg.

Personality and behaviour:

Their personalities are difficult to get a read on.

They aren't known to be aggressive.

But rather easily spooked and peaceful dragon species.

Did you know that hatchlings have a dark green colour instead of the normal coloration after hatching?

Hatchlings shake their wings to get blood to circulate and warm up their wings like a moth.

Did you know that only five hatchlings survive after hatching.

hi, first of all i would like to say that i love your stories and it’s really amazing to have someone as talented as you in our fandom.. secondly, i hope you’re okay and everything is going well with covid.. last but not least, i know you’re currently writing Between the Lines, which i absolutely love, and you’re probably busy with other things as well but i was wondering how is it going with the sequel of DHC? Because i love all your works but that one has a special place for me.. Thank you,ily

For the year 2022, I think I have two series left in me before I might have nothing left for this fandom 😭

As sad as it is, things have been on decline and I’m sure some of you have noticed some your faves leaving </3

That being said, I have DHC sequel for fall/winter 2022 and a Dark!Royal AU for the spring/Summer 2022 (after BTL pretty much).

After that, who knows! Maybe something will happen that will revive my motivation to keep writing for marvel or it may be time to move on to other things 😖

But as I’ve talked about before, there are always new writers joining the fandom, so they will keep it afloat <3
